Watching it Live!

For the first time ever I watched a professional cricket match from the stadium and I am pretty sure that this the beginning of one long list.

The experience was enthralling, may be I was destined to be overwhelmed by the sheer passion for the game. We started out early for the match and were there in the stadium 90 minutes earlier. We finally got settled in a vantage point with close proximity to the ground and the cheerleaders :). The crowd was charged up and was getting ready for what turned out to be the run feast of IPL with over 460 runs scored in 40 overs.

The first innings was really rocking, with Vijay in sublime form and dealing with just 4s and 6s (in total he scored 98 runs this way). We were dancing standing on the chairs for every 4 and 6, the whole atmosphere was electrified by the catalytic drum beats by Sivamani, he surely is a genius.

With 247 to defend I thought we won't be challenged by the Royals but it turned out that I was wrong, Naman Ojha and Shane Watson had other plans. One has to appreciate the fighting spirit of the royals but the score and the pressure was too high to handle. In the end some good cricketing sense prevailed and Bollinger made all the difference, the crowd fell in love with him just for THE CATCH alone.

In the end it was a fulfilling experience, watching many of the superstars pretty close, seeing tons of runs scored, catching the glimpse of the cheerleaders up close and above all being part of the crowd that saw the home team win!

So long...

It is almost a year since my last blog and it has been a very eventful year! I became a dad for the first time and also failed in my 3rd attempt to do higher studies.

This one year has taught me a lot about my inefficiencies and my approach to anything. Now the pressure is even higher to be efficient, as soon my son will look up to me for inspiration. I have never penned downed my thoughts and learnings before. I would be using this blog to learn and to commit to my thoughts

Experiments with Python - Part 1

Why Python:
For quite sometime now python has interested me. Being a COBOL programmer I feel I am left behind in the technology front, my penchant for tech blogs is not doing much good to my self esteem. I felt I have been reading too much and decided to get practical with a language. I decided upon Python for various reasons, it seems to be the hip thing and lot of smart people seem to work on it. I also closely follow
S Anand's blog and I can say it has affected me. Even he has chosen Python and thats enough for me.

Setting up python Development environment:
After some contemplation I decided to use Eclipse and pydev to build, though I wanted to use python30, Active Python because of its vast libraries and COM support seems more attractive.

Rest continued in the next blog

More on RSS(Mashups)

In our previous posts we have seen what is RSS. Now lets see another major use of RSS.

Mashups

Mashups is about "Mashing" up various RSS sources and making up a hybrid RSS feed, this gives the flexibility to mash RSS feeds together and with some creativity you can come up with really cool Mashups.

There are lots of mashup apps available, the most famous one are,
1. Yahoo Pipes
2. PopFly
3. GME

Nice Mashin up! Please share any good Mashup you might come up with!
